Tired of Financial Uncertainty on Your Farm? The “Grow Your Green – Farm Profitability” workshop is designed to empower direct-to-market farmers like you to confidently manage your financial landscape. Over three hours, we’ll demystify farm accounting, showing you how to correctly categorize income and expenses for Schedule F. You’ll receive both digital and printed workbooks packed with templates and real-world examples. Understand why strong financial records are the key to unlocking vital resources like loans, grants, and Micro Farm Revenue Insurance. Gain the clarity to identify your most profitable crops and make strategic decisions that save you time, money, and stress. This workshop is for all direct-to-market farmers, regardless of your current record-keeping methods. Bring your spouse, partner, or family and come prepared with your laptop or iPad to begin setting up your financial tracking. Prefer a hands-on approach? We’ll also have hard copy templates available. This event is hosted by the Crow River Chapter of SFA. The chapter will provide a taco bar, and beverages will be available to purchase at Three Sons Seltzer. Pre-registration is requested, though walkups are welcome. Registration is free for members of SFA and $10 for nonmembers. Members, please log in first to see the discounted price. Let’s make our way around the businesses that participate in Local Foods Month as we conduct our Minnesota River Chapter meetings. First up, Pub 500 in Mankato.

At this meeting, we’ll hear from local farmers transitioning from conventional dairying to regenerative practices including multiple cover crops, grazing sheep and cattle, building a small-scale dairy and more. Tom and Isabella Portner of Sleepy Eye are a father-daughter team working with their family to regenerate their land and use their animals to help do it. We’ll hear about their story, challenges, and current goals.

In addition, we’ll hold a short meeting to discuss:

River Rock Kitchen & Baking Co Commercial Kitchen Opportunity

Potential for chapter to purchase chicken processing equipment to share/rent within chapter members

Review Sowing Seeds

And more!

Taco Bar supper will be provided featuring locally-sourced beef. Please indicate in advance via email to Mary if you need food intolerances accounted for. When you arrive, mention that you are with the SFA group and the waiter will bring you to join the group.

Registration: This event is free to attend. Please RSVP so that we can account for accurate numbers for supper!
