Join us for a comprehensive field day and educational session focused on the winter bale grazing. See it firsthand on a farm with experience in the practice, hear from other farmers doing it, and learn about the multi-year on-farm bale grazing research project. 

Ken and Laura Schmitt and their children operate a 150-acre all-grass farm near Colfax, WI where bale grazing is a foundational practice for managing their herd of 60 Angus/Hereford cow/calf pairs. 

The WI bale grazing project is being conducted on 13 farms across the state since 2023, including the Schmitt's. 

The morning field event will be followed by an indoor educational session including farmer and researcher presentations. 

This event is a collaboration between UW-Extension, GrassWorks, Sustainable Farming Association, and River Country Resource Conservation District.
