Mark raises garlic and Icelandic sheep on 100 acres in Meeker County. Formerly, he worked as a financial services consultant and manager. At times, he finds his training in mathematics useful to his work on the farm, which is certified under the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program.

He currently serves as treasurer on the SFA board. In the past, he has served on the boards of three other non-profits, including 18 years for the Schubert Club in St Paul.
