Fare Grange Law is thrilled to announce its new Beginning Farmer & Food Entrepreneur Program. Our innovative pilot program is designed to increase access to legal services for new farm and food businesses in the sustainable and organic sector. Here’s what we’re offering, starting in 2014:
- Free, reserved 30-minute consultations for beginning farmers and food entrepreneurs.
- Special rates for additional one-hour consults, if desired.
- “In-House Counsel” monthly subscription option (unlimited calls & emails plus member discounts on additional legal services)
- Online “Ask a Lawyer” meet-ups on topics of interest to new farm and food operations.
Fare Grange Law is offering this program in service to our firm mission: to build a healthy, sustainable food system by providing legal counsel to the people and food businesses in the good food universe. Supporting beginning farms and food businesses with proactive legal planning as they become vital actors in a sustainable food system is one way we can strengthen the good food infrastructure. Solar Farm, LLC will give a discount of $50 off the cost of a solar site assessment. Normally $150, this would cost $100 for SFA members. The solar site assessment is necessary to determine what sites are suitable for solar and to verify the size, costs and incentives available for the solar system that would be proposed. It also allows Solar Farm, LLC to optimize the design for the specific location and needs. Initially free ballpark estimates can be done from Google Earth, but if one wanted to move forward with a solar system a site assessment would then be required for a firm quote.
Solar energy systems are a proven way to reduce utility bills and it is renewable and sustainable. With the incentives now available and with the cost of solar now being low, the payback for the system is typically in the 4- to 8-year range dependent your utility rates, tax credits and incentives and grants available. Financing is available. Solar systems are long-lasting; in the case of solar electric systems, the solar modules are warranted for 25 years and the systems are fairly maintenance-free. Solar Farm, LLC has been in business since 2008 and owner James Darabi is a NABCEP certified PV installer.
