In this issue:

Remember:  Come to the the festival in costume* and get a dollar off the ticket price. Participate in the Peculiar Pragmatic Promenade!

EXPERT ADVICE

Where else can you chase down stray electrical voltages, try some healing essential oils, learn everything you'd ever want to forget about garlic, run a greenhouse all winter on fifty bucks, discover the secret life of market vegetables, become an apiarist, and use The Force to control bugs?  Check out the Ask the Expert feature at this year's festival!

AS SEEN ON TV

Thanks to our faithful partner, Minnesota Grown, the Festival will be promoted on two TV stations: Fox 9 News will be our Official Weather Forecaster, and the meteorologists will mention us during the weather reports—"Head on out to the MN Garlic Festival this weekend because the most perfect high pressure system on record will be centered on Hutchinson—you couldn't ask for better weather"****

Watch Twin Cities Live—a presentation of Channel 5 Eyewitness News—on Thursday, August 13, to see our very own Mary Jane Miller talk about the Festival and all those fabulous garlic-laced foods.

GARLIC ICE CREAM

It's back!  Cedar Summit Creamery's Florence and Dave Minar will dish up this paradox of gastronomical delicacies at their booth once again this year, despite the restraining order.  When William Shakespeare wrote the line, "That is hot ice and wondrous strange snow," he'd just had his first bite of the Minar's most ephemeral flavor.

No Pets Please.

* Costume rules:  Wear something comfortable, since it's going to be warm and sunny:  Garlic-Bulb-Smothered-In-Thick-Curry-Sauce costume is a bad idea (though it sounds tasty), but Peeled-Garlic-Bulb-In-Light-Tarragon-Vinegar is good.  Costumes should have expandable midriffs.  And none of that "I came as myself" stuff.**
** Unless, of course, you're a superhero, like Captain Pesto.
*** Actually, the Festival Director accidently left it out, and is now scrambling to get the webmaster to add it in.
**** And if that's not entirely true, remember: we can move the whole thing indoors and not miss a beat.

MN Garlic Festival is produced by the Crow River Chapter of Sustainable Farming Association of MN
