The Kid's Stage
and All Around the Grounds!
The excitement is non-stop at The Wedge Co-op Stage, where half the stage is a concert venue and the other half is a demonstration kitchen. Musical and theatrical performances alternate with Cooking Demos by some of Minnesota's finest chefs. At the Kid's Stage and elsewhere, activities abound for the younger crowd as well: mask making, kite flying, dancing, games and music.

The Light of The Moon Band (www.lightofthemoonband.com) will rip into Southern Old Time and Ragtime music with unrestrained enthusiasm. Onstage and around the grounds, enjoy them throughout the day.

Charlie Maguire (www.charliemaguire.com) — of Prairie Home Companion fame and the official "Centennial Troubadour" for Minnesota State Parks — will teach kids and adults to play “the spoons,” followed up with an opportunity to perform on the main stage with Mr. Maguire as a member of “The Culinary Orchestra.”

Jawaahir, (www.jawaahir.org) meaning "jewels" in Arabic, presents Middle Eastern dance as a living art form at its highest artistic level, bringing the rich folk heritage of the Middle East to the theater stage.

The Narren of New Ulm is an entire village of elaborately masked characters — funny, quirky and just a bit scary — each with their own personality and story. An old German festival tradition ("narren" means fool), think of them as the relatives everyone has but no one wants to own.

Songwriter, composer and unabashed garlic lover, Mariénne Kreitlow (www.marienne.com) once again enchants the audience with stories of frustrated vampires, overgrown potbelly pigs, cowboys in skirts, and all the wondrous properties of our festival's inspiration, "the stinking rose."

The Mu Community Taiko Drummers (www.muperformingarts.org) return with their highly physical and riveting Japanese drumming. As zestful and potent as garlic itself, these enthusiastic and impressive players will thunder and shake the performance stage.

Minnesota Police Pipe Band is Scottish bagpipes and drums at their finest.
Opaa! Bivoli International Folkdancers has been dancing in the Buffalo area for 20 years, exploring folkdances from around the world - Israel, Japan, Greece, Romania, Germany, Turkey and England — and they're sure to get you on your toes and dancing with them.
If you can’t wait until August for your garlic fix, watch the YouTube video, “I Like Garlic,” from Mariénne Kreitlow (www.youtube.com/v/DBEW3nwqddU).
