So, “Carl Connieson” is a pseudonym. The real person is Connie Carlson, who asked to remain anonymous, and is the Garlic Festival Volunteer Coordinator (you can volunteer here).
The not-fake-news story is this:
Google did tell all the festival-goers who were coming from the south that the entrance was at the opposite end of the fairgrounds. Once Connie figured this out, she promptly send her mom, Sally Fernholz, out to the southern end of the grounds to run a second admissions entrance. And it was, indeed, right next to the “biker gang”, which was actually a motocross club that had rented the grandstand track, which was indeed under water.
The part about nobody messes with her, even the bikers, is also true.
