About the Budding Farmers Support Network

The Budding Farmers Support Network (BFSN) is a new organization started by a group of young farmers at the University of Minnesota. Our goal is to create a supportive community and connect beginning farmers. All “budding farmers” are welcome, regardless of age or experience level. By partnering with the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota, BFSN is part of a larger farmer-to-farmer network, providing access to educational resources and opportunities to connect with established farmers.

BFSN will  have access to SFA’s expansive Farmer-to-Farmer Network, helping to build valuable connections and knowledge through events and networking opportunities as members begin to venture into farming. To join the group, please click the Join/Renew tab above and select Budding Farmer Support Network from the drop down menu.

Stay tuned to this page for updates on future events and happenings.

Recent Events

On April 19th, BFSN held their kickoff event at the University of Minnesota, marking the official partnership between the group and SFA.  John Mesko was the featured speaker and attendees were able to hear his story, get to know one another, and enjoy  food provided by Lakewinds Natural Foods. BFSN was able to gain some great momentum at the event and the group is excited to begin planning for programming in the coming months.
