SFA’s Deep Roots Farmer Development Program will host another version of its popular short course, Deep Winter Production of Greens and Livestock Fodder Using Passive Solar Energy, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Jan. 13, 2018, at Paradox Farm, 11643 State Hwy 78, Ashby.
During the class, Paradox Farm owners Sue Wika and Tom Prieve will provide a detailed overview of the construction and operation of their deep-winter greenhouse, which utilizes passive solar energy with underground heat storage. Further, SFA Executive Director Theresa Keaveny will discuss financing options for prospective DWG producers. Cost is just $20 for current SFA members and $40 for nonmembers. Paradox Farm is 7 miles north of Ashby and 10 miles south of Battle Lake; snow date is Jan. 14.
