Farmers anticipating retirement or preparing to take ownership of an existing farm should attend an upcoming theater production scheduled for both Nov. 8 in Sturgeon Lake and Nov. 9 in Duluth.
Each night includes a performance of the nationally touring drama “Map of My Kingdom,” a one-woman play written by Iowa Poet Laureate Mary Swander that shares stories of how farmers and landowners have approached transitions.
The Nov. 8 event will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. at Sturgeon Lake City Hall, 3084 Farm to Market Rd, as part of a farm transitions workshop sponsored by Minnesota Farmers Union. The evening includes dinner and a panel of farmers and educators discussing practical mechanics of farm transition. Cost is $10; RSVP to 320.216.4220 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Nov. 9 event, presented by Lake Superior SFA, is set for 6:30 p.m. at Zeitgeist Teatro Zuccone, 222 E Superior St, Duluth, and will also be followed by a panel discussion and refreshments. MFU and Duluth Young Farmers Coalition are co-presenters. Suggested donation is $15. Info: email@example.com or the Lake Superior Chapter homepage.
